Over the next 5 weeks there will be homework. Yes homework. The intent of the home work will be to create an individualized home practice. This way you have something to keep you going during the long summer break. You will be amazed what 10-15 minutes a day of practice will do for your whole being. And when we start up again in the mid of September you will not feel like you are starting over.
Week One
Choose one or two of your favorite poses. Do them everyday because they bring you joy. Choose 1 or 2 of your least favorite poses do these every day.
Week Two
Do 1 or two sun salutations everyday. Then repeat week one's homework everyday.
Week 3
Sit comfortably (or lie on your back) and breathe. With each inhalation take in a little more breath. Long, slow, deep and calm breathing. Do this for 2-3 minutes. (About 20-30 breaths). Then proceed to the homework from week 1 and week 2.
Do 2 or 3 Sun Salutations everyday. Followed by your 2 favorite poses and your 2 least favorite poses. Smile.
Week 4
Repeat everyday the following: Sit , breathe, center yourself. Do 2-3 sun salutations. Do two of your most favorite poses and two of your least favorite poses. Lie in savasana for at least 5 minutes (of a perfect world we would work our way up to 15 - 30 minutes. see article here.
Week 5
Repeat everyday the following: Sit, breathe, center yourself. Check in with how you are feeling and listen to your inner wisdom. Do some sun salutations. Do a couple of poses that will bring you joy and a couple of poses that are a challenge to you. Remember there is no pain in yoga, always listen to your body. Lie in Savasana for atleast 5 minutes (more is good :). Finally and most importantly enjoy your summer.
